About Me

Welcome to changtilly!  Here you'll find a chronicle of my baking adventures in my kitchen.  I just started baking in August, so all of the recipes you see here are brand new to me.  The pictures you see are the products of my first attempt at the recipe.  On some occasions, if the first attempt was horridly disastrous, you'll see products of my first and second attempts.  You'll be able to read about my successes, failures, and everything fun in between!

Before this past August, I was never really interested in baking, nor have I really baked anything from scratch alone in my adult life.  The extent of my cooking in the kitchen included quick and easy meals, which I would make big batches of in order to avoid having to cook again for a few days.  I much preferred going out for a meal instead.  My husband, MAC, and I both love food and trying the newest, hottest restaurants.  Living in San Francisco, there was no shortage of that.

However, after MAC was diagnosed with a peculiar health condition earlier this year, we had to change our lifestyle completely.  We could no longer go out, not even for a quick bite.  So, I started experimenting with recipes at home to wake up our tastebuds, and to preserve our passion for good food.  Since we could no longer go out, why not make it at home?

I started searching the internet for new recipes for savory dishes.  Many of them were a big hit with MAC, so I continued to cook more dishes from scratch.  Eventually, I gained enough courage to try my hand at baking, and realized how fun it is!  With baking, you have the opportunity to create unique things and add your personal artistic flair to it.  You can make frostings of different colors, macarons of different flavors, pies with different fillings, the possibilities are endless.  Plus, everyone loves to eat treats made with lots of sugar and butter.  MAC, especially, is really enjoying being my taste tester.  And that's all that really matters.

Thank you for visiting my blog!
